GM2 Gangliosidosis Type 1
The Gangliosidoses are a group of lysosomal storage diseases which result in improper carbohydrate metabolism. The brain is particularly affected by this, so the major symptoms of all of these diseases are neurological, most notable among these being balance issues, difficulty walking and head tremors. These symptoms are usually noticeable by 3-6 months of age and lead to death in affected animals by about 2 years of age.
These diseases are inherited in an autosomal recessive manner.
