SCID - X-linked

There are two known types of x-linked severe combined immunodeficeincy (XSCID) in dogs: SCID-X1 and SCID-X2. These conditions are inherited as X chromosome linked disorders, meaning only male dogs can become affected with the disease, while female dogs, though not clinically affected, can carry the mutation and pass it on to their young. Affected male pups usually die within a few months after birth from infections that their immune systems are unable to fight.
