Once your order is complete, you will be sent a sample collection kit from VetGen that may be used at any time. It will not expire. A single DNA sample kit is sufficient for any number of tests for one dog.
The kit contains oral cheek swabs, a submission form with instructions and a return envelope. DNA is stable once it dries on the bristles of the swabs and should not be refrigerated.
Examples of k test result types:
KBKB- dogs that are homozygous(two copies) for KB cannot produce fawn pups regardless of the genetic make-up of the other parent. The single KB contribution from this parent will render all pups black.
KBky – a black dog on the other hand may produce fawn pups. If the mate is a fawn dog, approximately 50% of the pups will be fawn. If the mate is another KBky black, 25% fawn may be expected.
A copy of ky must be inherited from each parent for a pup to express fawn in the coat.
|1st coat test/1st dog $65, additional coat tests for the same dog $20 each. As you place additional coat tests into the shopping cart and tag them for Animal #1 etc the discounting will appear.
Turnarnound time is up to two weeks from receipt of DNA if the sample yields a result on the first run.
Please note that batches finish on various days so you may not receive all reports at once.
