PRA-Sheltie
In 2015 a mutation in the CNGA1 gene was reported that was shown to be causative for a form of PRA (progressive retinal atrophy) in the Shetland Sheepdog. There is more than one form of PRA in Shelties as demonstrated by the fact that some dogs with clinical diagnoses of PRA did not have this mutation. The age of onset of affected dogs varied from 2 to 11 years of age.
